Shipped my Bike

Yesterday I dropped my bike off at the bike shop to be shipped to Fargo, ND.  Only two weeks until I head that way too!  Getting excited to see some of my old friends from last summer's trip and meet many new friends.  Until then, I will be riding my mountain bike.

One month to go!!

The 2nd half of my cross country cycling journey is just one month away!  Today, I began choosing my cycling jerseys/shorts for the trip.  One month from today I will be in Fargo, ND, and will embark on my journey July 6th leaving Fargo and completing my journey August 16th in Bar Harbor, ME, 2,400 miles later.  My trip began last Summer in Anacortes, WA - Fargo, ND (1,800 miles).  My trip is being fueled by my desire of raising money for Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY.  Most of you know Roswell has treated family members of mine over the course of decades.  Roswell cured my brother, Joe of his childhood Leukemia back in the 1970's.  Currently, it is treating other relatives of mine.  Most recently, despite Roswell's best efforts, my dear & beautiful aunt, Ann Newell only 67 years old, lost her battle to Lung Cancer in December, 2010.  She fought this bastard of a disease valiantly and courageously with  a quiet grace.  It is for her that I dedicate this cross country journey.  Raising money to find a cure for cancer, a miserable disease that alters lives, takes lives, is my mission in pedaling all these miles.  For the upcoming 2,400 miles that await me, I will be riding in my aunt's shadow.  Please check into my blog beginning July 6th, 2011 for daily journal entries of my ride.  I thank all of you for your kind words, encouragement & support as I under take this journey.

Love,
Kit
